Suppressing Appetite: Effective Acupuncture Points for Weight Loss

November 28, 2023

The main reason for obesity is eating too much, combined with lack of exercise. Western medicine advocates for immediate diet and exercise as a weight loss method, while traditional Chinese medicine advocates for stimulating specific acupuncture points or areas to suppress excessive appetite, achieving weight loss from the root.

There are many acupuncture points and areas that can suppress appetite. Here, we will introduce the relatively easy-to-stimulate areas such as the back of the hand and the palm.

One is the central area of the back of the hand, about 3 centimeters in diameter, known as the "chest and abdomen area." Another area is on the side of the palm, just below the index finger to the base of the thumb, known as the "stomach, spleen, and large intestine area." Applying strong pressure to these two areas before meals weakens the gastrointestinal function and naturally suppresses appetite.

However, it is important to note that if the intensity of the stimulation is not strong enough or painful enough, it will have no effect. Gentle rubbing or massaging of these areas will instead stimulate gastric and intestinal function, leading to increased appetite.

Therefore, we can make use of small tools around us. The "stomach, spleen, and large intestine area" on the palm can be stimulated by plastic hair clips or paper clips to achieve the desired effect. (Metal objects are too painful and should be avoided as much as possible)
