There are several health care points in the human body that, when regularly massaged and tapped, can achieve miraculous effects. Moderate massage of these areas can stimulate acupoints, dredge meridians, harmonize qi and blood, and relieve fatigue, in order to achieve the goal of health care.
1. Massage the eye sockets to calm the mind and relieve headaches
There are many acupoints in the eye sockets, such as Qingming, Zanzhu, Sibai, Chengqi, and Sizhukong. Massaging these acupoints can reduce eye pressure, relieve eye fatigue, improve eye function, and have a significant improvement effect on symptoms such as red and blurry eyes, unclear vision caused by myopia, presbyopia, and excessive eye use.
Massaging these acupoints can also calm the mind, improve headaches, and delay the aging of the skin around the eyes to prevent the appearance of wrinkles.
Lightly close your eyes, use the index and middle fingertips to rotate the eyelids in a clockwise and counterclockwise direction for 5-10 times. You can also gently press the corresponding acupoints for about 1 minute for better calming and pain-relieving effects.
2. Massage the neck hollow to relieve discomfort in the throat
The neck hollow is located below the Adam's apple and above the concave area of the sternum. This is where the Tianzhu acupoint is located, which is an acupoint of the Ren meridian. It is located four inches below the laryngeal knot and in the center of the depression of the sternum. It has the function of regulating the diaphragm, stomach, descending rebellious qi, and adjusting qi.
Stimulating the neck hollow can improve symptoms such as discomfort in the throat, coughing, wheezing, and nausea and belching.
You can use your thumb or index finger to press the neck hollow, and slowly and evenly apply pressure inward and downward, or massage in a circular motion, while swallowing, for about one minute, until you feel a local soreness, heaviness, and stuffiness.
3. Rub the armpits to relax the chest and calm the mind
The top of the armpit, where the artery pulsates, is the acupoint of Jiquan. Acupuncture or massage of this acupoint has the effect of relaxing the chest and calming the mind, which is beneficial for preventing and treating diseases of the circulatory and nervous systems, such as coronary heart disease, angina, and intercostal neuralgia.
Place four fingers together under the armpit and massage clockwise and counterclockwise, exchanging every 10 circles, for a total of 100-200 massages.
You can also press with your left hand on the right armpit, and with your right hand on the left armpit, use the thumb to press the Jiquan acupoint, repeatedly rub and press until you feel a sense of soreness, numbness, and heat, which usually takes 3-5 minutes.
4. Tap the elbow hollow to clear heat and dredge meridians
The elbow hollow is located in front of the elbow joint and is the passage of the Hand Shaoyin Heart Meridian, Hand Jueyin Pericardium Meridian, and Hand Taiyin Lung Meridian. It is distributed with acupoints such as Quchi, Quze, and Chize.
When there are too many metabolic waste products in the blood, the blood viscosity increases, and the blood and qi are prone to stagnate at the elbow joint, causing the meridians to be blocked. This can lead to excessive heart fire and lung heat, resulting in symptoms such as sore throat, cough with yellow phlegm, restlessness, and insomnia.
Massaging the acupoints of the elbow hollow can dredge the meridians, clear heat and dampness, and calm the mind and throat. Place four fingers together and tap the left and right sides a few times, paying attention to the rhythm while tapping.
You can also gently massage the local acupoints, feeling a slight warmth and soreness in the elbow area.
5. Rub and press the lumbar hollow to regulate qi and blood
The lumbar hollow is the concave area on both sides of the lumbar spine, where the acupoints Jiaji and Shenshu are located. Jiaji acupoints belong to the extraordinary meridians, and Shenshu acupoints belong to the Foot Taiyang Bladder Meridian. They are the areas where the qi of the viscera is injected. They have been highly regarded in traditional Chinese health care massage.
Frequent massage of the lumbar hollow can coordinate the meridians, regulate qi and blood, and harmonize the viscera. It is suitable to massage the lumbar hollow by rubbing and pressing along the direction of the spine from top to bottom.
6. Rub and press the popliteal hollow to relieve back pain
The popliteal hollow is the concave area behind the knees on both sides. It is the area where the Liver Meridian, Kidney Meridian, and Bladder Meridian of the Twelve Regular Meridians pass through. The acupoint in the middle of the popliteal hollow is Weizhong.
In traditional Chinese medicine, there is a saying "seek Weizhong for back pain", which means that treating back pain and poor flexion and extension of the lower limbs requires the Weizhong acupoint. On both sides of the Weizhong acupoint, there are also acupoints such as Weiyang, Yingu, and Fuqie, which are all acupoints for treating back pain.
Rub your palms to warm them up, rub and press back and forth on both sides of the popliteal hollow, intermittently press the acupoints, and feel a local warmth and soreness. This not only relieves back pain and discomfort in the lower limbs, but also enhances the body's defense and immune function.
