Acupressure Techniques for Better Sleep: A Guide to Relieving Tension and Promoting Relaxation

    1. Press the Pericardium Meridian

 

    Follow the midline of the inner side of the upper arms and press downwards. Focus on pressing the tender points. Do this 1-2 times daily.

 

    2. Rub the Gate of Spirit Acupoint

 

    The Gate of Spirit acupoint is located on the radial side of the wrist crease, in the depression of the flexor carpi ulnaris tendon. Before going to bed, use the tip of the thumb to rub the Gate of Spirit acupoint on the other hand. It should feel sour and swollen. Repeat this 30 times on each hand.

 

    3. Rub the Yongquan Acupoint before Sleep

 

    Lie down in a supine position before sleep, slightly bend the knees, and rub the soles of the feet together, up and down. Do this 30 times daily.

 

    4. Pinch and Rub the Earlobes

 

    Pinch and rub the earlobes with the thumbs and index fingers of both hands. Gently twist and rub until a sour and painful sensation is felt. Do this for about 2 minutes.

 

    5. Scalp Massage

 

    Use the fingertips to tap the scalp. Bend the fingers of both hands, except for the thumbs, and tap the scalp vertically in three rows: from the hairline to the top of the head, the back of the head, and the neck. Do this 3-5 times daily, for at least 5 minutes each time. You can also use a comb, following the same method.
