Understanding and Treating Hair Loss: Causes and Methods

February 20, 2024

Hair Loss is a common phenomenon for people nowadays. Apart from genetic factors, a large part of the reason is due to long-term stress, staying up late, and other reasons. Today, I will list several causes of hair loss and methods to treat it.

The causes of hair loss in men include:

     1. Blood Heat

Early hair loss in young boys is due to excessive blood heat. It is generally believed that it is due to blood deficiency and blood stasis. However, excessive blood heat does not promote hair growth. Blood heat generates wind, and the wind heat rises to the top of the head. The hair follicles do not receive nourishment from yin blood, and the hair suddenly falls out. This is particularly evident in women, especially those who have just moved to a different place for work. Their hair is thick and black when they first arrive, but after a while, when they wash their hair, it falls out in clumps. The hair starts to noticeably decrease, and some people even dare not wash their hair. I would like to remind friends who work in different places to take measures early to stop hair loss and grow healthy hair.

     2. Excessive Ejaculation

Refers to excessive sexual activity in men, excessive semen ejaculation, depletion of yang energy, physical weakness, and inability to nourish hair follicles, leading to hair loss.

     3. Worry and Anxiety

Modern life has increasingly high levels of stress and intense competition. People have more anxiety and worries, which accumulate in their minds and cause disturbances in the nervous system and psychological imbalance. Toxins accumulate in the heart and spleen. When subjected to sudden stimuli, evil wind invades and causes secondary hair loss or sudden hair loss.

     4. Environmental Pollution

Human living environments are deteriorating day by day. Air and water pollution cause people to absorb a large amount of toxic substances, damaging the endocrine and immune systems in the body, which in turn affects hair health and causes hair loss.

The following methods can help men prevent male pattern baldness:

     1. Scalp Cleansing

This is a step for men with hair loss before shampooing! Excessive sebum secretion on the scalp can hinder the metabolism of hair follicles, causing scalp inflammation, sensitivity, abnormal growth of scalp fungi, etc. Therefore, the scalp is dirtier than the hair, and oil and bacteria breed here. On the other hand, the hair mostly contains styling products and dust. When you find that your scalp is very greasy every day and difficult to control, you need to try this step.

     2. Hair Cleansing

After scalp cleansing, the hair follicles are unblocked, and shampoo can more effectively clean the remaining oil particles and dirt on the hair. Oil-control shampoo can dissolve hardened sebum, prevent follicle blockage, ensure that the hair absorbs nutrients fully, grow healthily, prevent premature hair loss due to "suffocation," prolong hair life, and protect hair quantity.

     3. Anti-Hair Loss Care

Genetic genes, hormonal imbalances, and external factors directly affect hair health and growth. Male hormones make sebum more vigorous. Hair growth essence can further adjust sebum balance, promote hair growth, and awaken dormant hair follicles.

Recommended foods for preventing hair loss in men:

     Celery, coriander, broccoli

I often recommend patients to eat more celery, coriander, and broccoli because these three foods have anti-androgen effects, which can help prevent baldness. Male pattern baldness, also known as androgenic alopecia in medical terms, is the most common type of hair loss in adult males. It is mostly caused by a combination of excessive androgen secretion and genetic factors. Studies have shown that celery, coriander, and broccoli have good anti-androgen effects. Therefore, while treating hair loss, eating more of these foods can help suppress androgen secretion.
