Early Signs of Kidney Deficiency: What You Should Know

February 17, 2024

When our kidneys start to weaken in our daily lives, it can be seen from our bodies. Kidney deficiency is not a good sign, and the trouble is that the early symptoms of kidney deficiency are not obvious. At the beginning, the body generally shows edema and white spots on the nails. In addition to these, there are the following symptoms in the early stage of kidney deficiency:

  1. Half-moon marks on the nails

If the half-moon marks on the nails have a large arc and good luster, it indicates that the person's qi and blood are relatively abundant, reflecting the nutrients accumulated by the kidney. However, if it is too large, it is not a good thing, indicating that the nutrients are piled up too much, which can easily lead to cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases such as hypertension and stroke.

We especially need to pay attention to the condition of the little finger of the hands and feet. The little finger corresponds to the kidney. If the color of the little finger is pale, with white spots or even dryness, it indicates kidney qi deficiency. This is often overlooked by most people. They think that only when they have night sweats and low desires, they are considered to have kidney deficiency, but by then it is already serious.

  2. Frequent yawning

Yawning is a common physiological phenomenon in daily life. It usually occurs when the body is tired and sleepy, or when awakened from a deep sleep. At these times, yawning is a normal physiological phenomenon and there is no need to worry. However, if yawning occurs frequently and persistently regardless of the time, even when not tired, it may indicate that you have kidney deficiency and should be given enough attention.

  3. Soreness and weakness of the waist and knees

People with kidney yin deficiency often have a salty taste in their mouth, and they are often accompanied by symptoms such as dry throat, dizziness, tinnitus, soreness and weakness of the waist and knees, irritability and restlessness, insomnia and frequent dreaming. If you take a look at the tongue, you will also find that the tongue is red and the tongue coating is thin.

  4. Cold intolerance

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that when the body's yang energy is sufficient, it can resist cold and maintain normal body temperature without feeling cold. If the body's yang energy is weak and cannot warm the body, it will feel cold.

In traditional Chinese medicine, the kidneys represent the energy storage of the body, while the liver represents the energy output. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the liver flourishes in the claws, and "the liver and kidneys have the same origin" means that only with abundant reserves can there be a continuous supply. Therefore, we must protect our liver and kidneys in life in order to maintain the supply of our body's energy.
