Methods for Treating Nocturnal Emissions: Causes, Effects, and Remedies

January 17, 2024

Under normal circumstances, nocturnal emission in males is a normal physiological phenomenon. However, excessive nocturnal emissions can potentially impact your health and, in severe cases, lead to infertility. So, how can you treat nocturnal emissions? Below, I will provide several methods for treating nocturnal emissions.

  Causes of Frequent Nocturnal Emissions

  1. Psychological Factors

Excessive sexual desire and an inability to control it, especially when sexually aroused before sleep, can stimulate the central nervous system responsible for sexual activity and lead to nocturnal emissions (such as frequently reading pornographic books or looking at explicit images, which trigger impulsive actions resulting in nocturnal emissions).

  2. Lifestyle Factors

Any stimulation that causes congestion in the genital organs or induces penile erection in daily life can lead to frequent nocturnal emissions.

  3. Physical Factors

Weak physical condition, chronic diseases, debilitating illnesses, excessive fatigue, long-term insomnia, malnutrition, and other factors can result in poor physical fitness and imbalance in various physiological functions of the body. This can also affect the nervous system responsible for ejaculation, leading to frequent nocturnal emissions.

  4. Intense Exercise

Exercise increases blood circulation, thereby enhancing the functions of various organs in the body. The reproductive organs are no exception. After exercising, blood flow to the testes, prostate, seminal vesicles, and other areas increases, leading to an increase in sperm production and seminal fluid. With more seminal fluid, nocturnal emissions are likely to occur.

  Nocturnal Emissions and Infertility

  1. It is normal to have two or three nocturnal emissions per month or one every three to five days. Even having one every one or two days should not be considered abnormal. If frequent nocturnal emissions persist for a long time, it may be pathological.

  2. Male nocturnal emissions are actually a normal physiological phenomenon. However, if frequent nocturnal emissions are accompanied by erectile dysfunction or premature ejaculation, it can result in sexual dysfunction and infertility.

  3. Excessive frequency of nocturnal emissions can also cause abnormalities in semen production, leading to a decrease in sperm density in the seminal fluid, which can affect normal conception.

  How to Treat Nocturnal Emissions

  1. Static Squatting Stance

Straighten your chest and waist, squat down 1/4 of the way (the degree of bending between the thighs and calves should be around 120-140 degrees), keep your head and neck straight, look straight ahead, and raise both arms forward. While keeping the posture unchanged, try to squeeze inward as much as possible with your knees, so that your legs, lower abdomen, and buttocks remain tense. Hold this position for half a minute, then take a few steps to let the muscles relax before repeating the exercise. Repeat as desired. Do this exercise once every morning. As leg strength increases, the duration can gradually be extended, and the number of repetitions can also be gradually increased.

  2. Supine Abdominal Contraction and Arm and Leg Lift

Lie on your back, stretch your arms straight behind your head, and then lift both legs and arms quickly so that your hands and toes touch each other above your abdomen. Inhale while lifting, and exhale while returning to the starting position. You can do this exercise once in the morning and evening, performing 24 to 32 repetitions each time. As the strength of your abdominal muscles increases, you can gradually increase the number of repetitions.

  3. Self-Massage

Using your fingertips, gently massage the Dantian acupoint (2 fingers below the navel in the lower abdomen) and the Shenshu acupoint (3 fingers away from the back of the waist, just below the second lumbar spine) in a clockwise and counterclockwise direction. By massaging these two acupoints, you can help adjust and improve sexual function.
