Optimizing Sleep Habits for Men: The Key to Health and Well-being

January 10, 2024

Sleep is a great source of health. How can men sleep well? First, it is important to develop a good habit of going to bed and getting up on time, following the objective rules of sleep and wakefulness alternation. This will help stabilize sleep and prevent excessive fatigue of the cerebral cortex cells. Strict daily routines are also significant for physiological processes such as sleep and wakefulness. Adhering to a strict schedule can make our sleep and wakefulness processes - even possibly like conditioned reflexes - more natural and profound.

In addition, it is advisable not to engage in intense mental work before bedtime and avoid vigorous exercise or physical labor. Instead, taking a walk outdoors and minimizing subjective stimulation is recommended. Men with an easily excitable temperament should avoid engaging in exciting conversations before bed, avoid reading emotionally charged books and magazines, and avoid watching movies or plays that linger in the mind for a long time. Dinner should not be too late, and overeating should be avoided. It is advisable to eat easily digestible and light foods, pay attention to eating vegetables and a certain proportion of whole grains to maintain regular bowel movements. Heavy seasonings should be avoided. Smoking, drinking strong tea or coffee, and consuming excessive amounts of drinks or fluids should be avoided in the evening. Smoking, tea, coffee, etc. can stimulate the brain and make it difficult for the brain to enter a state of inhibition. Drinking excessive fluids can increase the frequency of urination, which is not conducive to falling asleep again. It is well known that brushing teeth and washing the face before bed are necessary. However, it is also important to develop a habit of washing feet with warm water, which can promote blood circulation in the lower limbs and facilitate quick sleep. If conditions permit, wiping the body with warm water or taking a hot bath can be beneficial. Before bed, remove outer clothing and change underwear in a timely manner. If conditions permit, wear loose outer clothing. Bedding should be kept clean and aired frequently to maintain dryness and kill bacteria.

"Three should and three should not" before bed for men. In a man's life, more than a third of the time is spent in sleep. Normal and good sleep can regulate physiological functions, maintain the balance of the nervous system, and is an important part of life. Poor and insufficient sleep can make a man feel dizzy and weak the next day. Therefore, the relationship between sleep and health, work, and study is closely related. To obtain good sleep at night, it is important to pay attention to the "three should and three should not" before bed. The three shoulds are: 1. Take a walk before bed. 2. Soak your feet before bed. "Steaming your feet before bed is better than taking sleeping pills." Wash your feet with warm water for 15-20 minutes before bed to dilate foot blood vessels, promote blood circulation, and make it easier to fall asleep. 3. Brush your teeth before bed. The three should nots are: 1. Avoid overeating. Dinner should be about 70-80% full. Do not eat before bed to avoid burdening the stomach and intestines. 2. Avoid excessive entertainment. It is not advisable to watch intense movies and TV shows or sports games before bed, and avoid discussing nostalgic or scary things. 3. Avoid drinking strong tea and coffee. This is to prevent frequent urination and mental excitement from affecting sleep. In addition, it is important to pay attention to a comfortable nighttime environment, keep the bedroom clean, and ensure air circulation for the benefit of health.
