Bright Eyes: A Method for Preventing and Treating Eye Problems

March 10, 2024

The eyes are closely related to the liver, and people with a quick-tempered disposition are more prone to eye problems. As people age, their vision tends to decline. When elderly people are fatigued or in hot weather, they often have white fluid dots in the corners of their eyes, commonly known as eye discharge. They may also experience excessive tearing in the wind and in severe cases, develop cataracts. The "bright eyes" method can prevent and treat the above-mentioned conditions. The following are the steps:

1. Rubbing and applying palms to the eyes

Lie on your back, close your eyes, and rub your palms together 36 times. At this point, your palms should be slightly warm, and your eyelids should be lightly closed. Gently place the warm palms on the skin surface of the eyelids, and apply a light pressure. Then, remove the palms.

2. Pressing and pinching the inner corners of the eyes

Keep your eyes lightly closed, and use the fingertips of both hands to press on the two Jingming acupoints. Press and release lightly 36 times, or 50-100 times. Then, switch to using the thumbs and index fingers to pinch and lift the upper and lower eyelids at the Jingming acupoints. Lift when pinching, and release when loosening. Each pinch and lift, and each release, count as one time. The number of times should be consistent with the pressing and releasing.

3. Pressing and pinching the outer corners of the eyes

The method is the same as pressing and pinching the inner corners of the eyes, and the number of times is the same.

4. Pressing and releasing acupoints around the eyes

Keep the eyes lightly closed. Use the outer side of both thumbs to press the two pupils.
