Why do you get toothache after running

September 3, 2023
Running can not only strengthen the body, but also lose weight and slim, so generally speaking, running may be everyone's first choice when it comes to exercise. But in running sports, I believe there are many people will also encounter such a situation, after running will appear toothache phenomenon, which makes many people do not understand what is going on. So what is the reason for toothache after running?

It is caused by the rapid filling of the pulp chamber with blood

Running can accelerate the blood circulation of the body, which may cause rapid filling of the pulp cavity with blood and increase the pressure of the pulp cavity, thus compressing the dental nerve and causing pain.

Caused by lack of oxygen to the gums

Gums are widely distributed with nerve endings, when the gum tissue is deprived of oxygen, teeth will feel numb, sore and painful discomfort. When running, the blood is mostly distributed to the muscles and limbs, and the blood distributed to the gums and other mucous membrane tissues will be relatively reduced, so the lack of oxygen will easily occur after running for a long time and thus cause toothache.

Cold air stimulation causes

In the process of running, due to the acceleration of blood circulation, the human body temperature will rise, and in general, it may be higher than the temperature of the surrounding environment, so that the cold air outside will stimulate the dental nerve, and if you keep opening your mouth to breathe during running, it will intensify this stimulation, thus causing toothache after running.

Increased blood pressure

After running, the blood pressure of human body will rise and fall, and the nerve in the pulp chamber is sensitive to the rise of blood pressure, which may lead to discomfort in the posterior alveolar area.

Caused by overexertion

In the process of running, there may be physical incompetence to persist, then some people may clench their teeth or bite their lips with their teeth to let themselves continue to persist. But maybe this process is overexerted, and you will feel sore teeth after running.

Suffering from coronary heart disease

Some people have toothache after running, which may be caused by suffering from coronary heart disease. The symptoms of coronary heart disease do not always manifest in the heart or surrounding areas, but also in the form of pain in other areas. After performing running exercise, a part of the heart is stimulated and the coronary heart disease reflex symptoms to the teeth, and a toothache appears, known as cardiogenic toothache.

Suffering from dental diseases

People who suffer from dental diseases like periodontitis, tooth decay, pulpitis, etc., the teeth themselves are not healthy, and pain usually occurs, and the movement of blood circulation is accelerated, it is more likely to trigger toothache, and the alternation of hot and cold in the running process, the teeth are stimulated, which will intensify this pain.

How to do after running toothache

1, when running to avoid open mouth breathing, try to use the nose breathing, so as to reduce the cold air on the teeth stimulation. 2, after running a toothache, you can drink a little warm water, do not drink cold water or even ice water, may aggravate the tooth pain. 3, if the tooth pain is strong, and often appear such a situation, it is recommended to promptly seek medical examination to see if it is caused by the tooth itself or other diseases.
