What is the cause of chest pain during exercise

September 3, 2023
Many people may have encountered a situation in which they experience chest tightness and shortness of breath and chest pain after exercising. What is the cause of this phenomenon? What is the cause of chest pain when exercising?

Excessive exercise intensity

Excessive exercise intensity can lead to overexertion of the body muscles or overload exercise, which may lead to muscle spasms in the chest muscle strain to produce pain.

Insufficient blood supply

Blood is mainly supplied to the exercising muscles during exercise, which can lead to insufficient blood supply to other parts of the body, especially for people with weak heart muscle function, which may lead to myocardial ischemia and spasm, resulting in chest pain.

Exercise posture is not standard

When exercising, not mastering the correct posture and techniques of exercise, using the wrong posture or exerting excessive force during exercise, is also prone to chest muscle strain, which can lead to chest pain.

Incorrect breathing

When exercising, many people do not pay attention to the breathing pattern. Like running does not pay attention to deepen breathing, but only speed up the breathing frequency, making the respiratory muscle contraction too often, excessive tension, thus causing spasm of the respiratory muscle, resulting in pain. The main respiratory muscles in the body are the intercostal muscles and diaphragm. When the intercostal muscles spasm, pain is felt on both sides of the chest. When the diaphragm spasms, the pain occurs under both ribs.

Caused by cold air irritation

This condition is usually common in colder winter weather. When you breathe with your mouth wide open during exercise, you inhale a lot of cold air, which will stimulate the blood vessels in the lungs to constrict and obstruct blood circulation, thus causing chest tightness and chest pain.

Heart disease and other diseases caused by

Suffering from diseases like heart disease, lung disease, liver disease, costochondritis, rib neuralgia, etc., are possible to have chest pain during exercise.

Warm tips

In the exercise should pay attention to do a good warm-up exercise, master the exercise skills, exercise in a gradual manner; exercise is best to be able to breathe through the nose, pay attention to adjust the breathing rhythm, control the amount of exercise.
