The splits are flexibility training, a basic skill to be practiced when learning to dance. The splits are divided into horizontal splits and vertical splits. Here we learn about the correct way to do the splits.

The correct position of the splits

Horizontal splits

When practicing the horizontal splits, separate the legs left and right into a single line, bend the knees and squat, brace your hands on the ground in front of your body, and slowly split your cheeks to the left and right. Then let the body press down until the legs are separated into a straight line and can sit on the ground. After being able to sit on the ground, hands off the ground, the body can not lean forward, the upper body should be straight, the hands can not hold the ground. When you get up, you have to get up with both feet, not just use your hands to support the ground.

Vertical splits

When practicing the vertical splits, separate your legs into a line in front of and behind you, support the ground with both hands, keep your upper body straight, and press your body downward until your legs are separated into a line in front of and behind you and you are sitting on the ground.

The correct way to do the splits

Do a full warm-up exercise

When practicing the splits, you need to do a full warm-up exercise to avoid injury to your body during the exercise. You can do ligament stretching, leg press, high leg raise, squatting horse stance, etc. Warm-up time of about 10-20 minutes will be sufficient to fully relax the muscles.

Wear non-slip, soft dance shoes fork splitting

Wearing non-slip, soft dance shoes will be more comfortable when splitting the fork and pressing down with ease. And the anti-slip function can avoid the violent downward pressure action caused by the slippery ground during the splits.

Practice splits on a flat surface

It is best to practice the splits on a flat, wide field, so that it is easier to achieve the effect of the splits, but also to help the splits easier to press down.
