It has the functions of promoting blood circulation, regulating menstruation, and treating wounds and swelling. It is used for bruises, blood stasis causing menstrual disorders, dysmenorrhea, postpartum blood stasis with abdominal pain and incomplete lochia, and various types of masses.

For example, there is Liu Jingu San (from "Tai Ping Sheng Hui Fang") for postpartum blood stagnation and suffocation; Liu Jingu Bi (from "Pu Ji Ben Shi Fang") for healing wounds and relieving pain.

Clean and cut processing is beneficial for purifying the medicinal materials and extracting the active ingredients. Sprinkling processing can enhance the blood-breaking and menstruation-promoting effects.

2. According to the "Ri Hua Zi Ben Cao": "It treats heart and abdominal pain, relieves gas and water distention, regulates women's meridians, stops dysentery and diarrhea."

3. According to the "Kai Bao Ben Cao": "It treats wounds and stops bleeding; postpartum residual diseases, stops bleeding and relieves pain."

4. According to the "Ben Cao Meng Quan": "It eliminates abscesses, swelling, and hot pain."

5. According to the "Gang Mu": "For children with urinary bleeding, grind and take the powder."

6. According to the "Ben Cao Qiu Yuan": "It treats heart and qi pain, ulcers with bleeding."

Liu Jingu dosage:

Oral: Decoction, 4.5-9 grams; or in powdered form. Topical: Crushed and applied, or sprinkled in powdered form.
