Chronic Pharyngitis due to Kidney Yin Deficiency:
Clinical Presentation: Dry and parched throat, dizziness, forgetfulness, soreness and weakness in the lower back and knees, emaciation, irritability and restlessness, red face with night sweats, red tongue with scanty coating, thin and rapid pulse.
He Xie Sheng Di Tang
Formula: 1 fresh river crab, 30g raw Rehmannia root.
Method: Cook the above two ingredients with an appropriate amount of water over low heat, remove the residue and collect the decoction.
Function: Nourish Yin, benefit the throat, clear heat, and dissipate nodules.
Usage: Take once daily for 3 consecutive days.
Xuan Shen Wu Mei Zhou
Formula: 15g Scrophularia root, 15g Japanese plum, 30g glutinous rice.
Method: First, cook the Scrophularia root and Japanese plum with an appropriate amount of water, remove the residue and collect the juice. Cook the glutinous rice with water to make a thin porridge, then add the medicinal juice and rock sugar, and simmer for a while.
Function: Nourish Yin, clear heat, generate fluids, and moisten the throat.
Usage: Take as desired.
Qing Yan Yin
Formula: 15g raw Rehmannia root, 10g Isatis root, 30g mung beans.
Method: Cook the raw Rehmannia root, Isatis root, and mung beans together for 30 minutes, remove the residue and collect the juice.
Function: Nourish Yin, clear heat, detoxify, and benefit the throat.
Usage: Take one dose daily, drink instead of tea.
