In addition, yam contains abundant proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, as well as iodine, calcium, iron, phosphorus, and other essential inorganic salts and trace elements for the human body. Long-term consumption of yam can increase the amount of mucoprotein in the body, prevent fat deposition that leads to cardiovascular diseases, and prevent premature occurrence of arteriosclerosis. The combination of mucopolysaccharides and inorganic salts helps to strengthen bone structure and make cartilage more elastic.
