Turtle and Lily Stew: A Nourishing Dish for Mind and Body

【Ingredients】

15g lily, 30g prepared rhizome of rehmannia, 1 turtle, 20ml cooking wine, 5g ginger, 2g salt, 2g chicken essence.

【Instructions】

Soak the lily in water until soft, then soak it in honey for 4 hours. Blanch the turtle in boiling water, remove the innards, and slice the ginger. Wash the prepared rhizome of rehmannia.

Put the lily, prepared rhizome of rehmannia, turtle, ginger, and cooking wine in a stewing pot. Add about 2,800ml of water. Bring to a boil over high heat, then simmer over low heat until the meat is tender. Add salt and chicken essence, and it is ready to serve.

【Precautions】

(1) Pregnant women, those with spleen and stomach yang deficiency, excessive cold and dampness, and lingering pathogenic factors should avoid eating turtle.

(2) Turtle should not be eaten with water caltrop, eggs, duck eggs, or mustard, as their effects are incompatible.

(3) Eating dead turtles is not advisable as it can cause illness or poisoning.

(4) Children should not eat too much turtle as it is not easily digestible.

(5) It is not advisable to eat turtle when eating oranges, as oranges contain a lot of citric acid, which can coagulate proteins.

(6) Turtle should not be eaten with pork, rabbit meat, or duck meat, as their medicinal effects are incompatible.

(7) Turtle should not be eaten with Perilla seed, mint, or Plantago asiatica, as their medicinal effects are incompatible.

(8) Turtle should not be eaten by those with bronchial asthma or allergies.

(9) Lily should not be used by those with excessive cold and dampness, diarrhea, or kidney yang deficiency.

(10) Lily is cold in nature and should not be consumed after childbirth.

(11) Prepared rhizome of rehmannia is sticky and should be used with caution by those with spleen deficiency and dampness.

(12) Take 1-2 doses every 2 weeks. It can be consumed regularly.
