Headache due to Deficiency of Qi and Blood: Clinical Manifestations and Recipes for Relief

Clinical manifestations of headache due to deficiency of Qi and blood:


     Headache and dizziness, restless heart, worsened by exertion, spontaneous sweating or night sweats, shortness of breath, aversion to wind, fatigue, pale complexion, pale tongue with thin white coating, weak and thin pulse.
 

 



 【Recipe: Gastrodia and Frog Soup】  
  Ingredients: 60g dried frog, 3g ginseng (or 15g Codonopsis pilosula), 30g wolfberry, 25g canned green beans, 50g sweet wine, 250g rock sugar, 20g scallion, 10g sliced ginger.
Preparation: Wash the dried frog, put it in a clay pot, add 50ml of water, 25g of sweet wine, scallion, and ginger, then steam for about 2 hours. Remove the black tendon membrane on the frog, put it in a jar, add 500ml of water, 25g of sweet wine, steam for another 2 hours, and transfer it to a bowl. Wash the wolfberry, grind the ginseng into powder. Put the rock sugar in a large bowl, add 350ml of boiling water, add ginseng and wolfberry to steam and dissolve, remove the sediment, pour it into the frog bowl, and add green beans.
Efficacy: Nourish blood and nourish yin, tonify kidney and invigorate Qi.
Usage: Consume with meals.
 
 【Recipe: Steamed Chicken with Polygonatum】  
  Ingredients: 30g polygonatum, 30g Codonopsis pilosula, 30g Chinese yam, 1 small chicken (about 500g).
Preparation: Cut the chicken into 3cm square pieces, blanch in boiling water for 3 minutes, remove and wash away the blood foam, put it in a steamer, add ginger, scallion, salt, and other seasonings, then add washed and cut polygonatum, Codonopsis pilosula, and Chinese yam, steam for 3 hours.
Efficacy: Invigorate Qi and tonify deficiency.
Usage: Consume with meals.
 
 【Recipe: Five-Flavored Pork Loin】  
  Ingredients: 20g Schisandra chinensis, 200g pork loin, 2 eggs, 25g flour, 50g lard, 100g chicken broth.
Preparation: Cut the pork loin into thick slices of 2.5cm, cross-cut both sides with a knife. Mix together chopped scallion, ginger, salt, monosodium glutamate, Shaoxing wine, Schisandra chinensis liquid, and pork loin, marinate for 10 minutes, dip in flour, beat the eggs in a bowl and stir well. Heat the lard in a pan, dip the pork loin in the egg, fry in the pan until both sides are cooked, add chicken broth, salt, Sichuan peppercorn water, Shaoxing wine, simmer over low heat for 3 minutes, remove when fully cooked. Cut the pork loin slices into strips and arrange them on a plate. Remove the impurities from the soup in the pan, thicken with wet starch, add chopped scallion and ginger, pour over the pork loin strips, and garnish with cilantro.
Efficacy: Invigorate Qi, nourish blood, and promote digestion.
Usage: Take 1 dose daily, eat the meat and drink the soup in 2 portions, and consume continuously for 10-15 days.
