Simple and Effective: Healthy Diet for Elderly Health Preservation

Many elderly people nowadays are keen on health preservation but do not know how to do it. They have followed many remedies and taken detours. In fact, the simplest method is to maintain a healthy diet, which can help the elderly avoid some common health misconceptions.


1. Stewed Fish Soup with Coix Seed and Crucian Carp

Effects: It can nourish qi, invigorate the spleen, and strengthen the kidneys. It is suitable for children with weak spleen and stomach, poor appetite, and irregular bowel movements. It can enhance the function of the spleen and stomach.

Ingredients: 15g coix seed, 15g Chinese yam, 1 crucian carp (about 150g)

Instructions: Remove scales, gills, and internal organs of the crucian carp. Fry it in a cast iron pan with a little cooking oil until it turns light yellow. Then put it in a clay pot with coix seed and Chinese yam. Add an appropriate amount of water and simmer for 1 hour. Season with salt and it is ready to be served.

2. Lotus Seed and Lily Soup

Effects: It can nourish the spleen and stomach, moisten the lungs, and calm the mind. It is suitable for children to consume regularly.

Ingredients: 15g lotus seeds, 15g dried lilies, 1 egg, sugar to taste

Instructions: Remove the core of the lotus seeds and put them in a clay pot with the dried lilies. Add an appropriate amount of water and simmer over low heat until the lotus seeds are soft. Add the egg and sugar. Once the egg is cooked, it is ready to be served.


3. Apricot Kernel Lung Nourishing Soup

Effects: It can nourish lung qi, moisten the lungs, stop coughing, and resolve phlegm. It is suitable for children with dry weather or weak lung qi and easy coughing. It can also be used for recovering from pneumonia.

Ingredients: 12g southern apricot kernel, 9g northern apricot kernel, 4 honey dates, 200g pig lungs

Instructions: Peel the southern and northern apricot kernels. Wash and cut the pig lungs into small pieces. Stir-fry the apricot kernels in a cast iron pan with a little cooking oil. Add an appropriate amount of water along with the honey dates and put them in a clay pot. Simmer for 1-2 hours. It is ready to be served.

4. Floating Wheat and Pig Heart Soup

Effects: It can invigorate the spleen and replenish qi, calm the mind, and enhance brain function.

Ingredients: 25g floating wheat, 5 jujubes, 1 pig heart, 6g longan flesh

Instructions: Cut open the pig heart and wash away the accumulated blood. Remove the pits from the jujubes. Put all the ingredients in a pot. Add an appropriate amount of water and simmer for 1 hour. Season with salt and it is ready to be served.

5. Codonopsis Pilosula, Atractylodes Macrocephala, and Jujube Soup

Effects: It can invigorate the spleen, replenish qi, dispel dampness, and stimulate the appetite. It is commonly used for children with fatigue, poor appetite, and constipation. It can also invigorate the spleen and stimulate the appetite for general children.

Ingredients: 10g Codonopsis pilosula, 20g Poria cocos, 6g Atractylodes macrocephala, 5 jujubes, 1 fresh duck kidney

Instructions: Crush the Poria cocos. Cut open the jujubes and remove the pits. Cut open the fresh duck kidney and wash away the internal organs. Put all the ingredients in a pot. Add an appropriate amount of water and simmer for 1 hour. Season with salt and it is ready to be served.
