What to Pay Attention to in Diet During Diarrhea

  1. Eat less high-protein foods

Regardless of the cause of diarrhea, it is important to pay attention to your diet and avoid eating high-protein foods, as they can worsen the condition.

  2. Low-fat diet

Patients with diarrhea should mainly consume low-fat and low-residue foods to effectively treat and alleviate diarrhea symptoms.

  3. Avoid certain foods

During diarrhea, there are many foods that should be avoided to prevent further burden on the intestines and worsening of diarrhea. These include coarse grains, raw and cold fruits and vegetables, and foods rich in dietary fiber such as leeks, celery, and pickled vegetables. Foods that are difficult to digest, such as ham, sausage, and cured meat, should also be avoided.

  4. Avoid alcohol

During diarrhea, patients should develop good dietary habits and avoid all foods that may worsen diarrhea. Alcoholic beverages, whether it is red wine or white wine, should be strictly prohibited for diarrhea patients.

  Tips:

If diarrhea is severe, in addition to avoiding the above foods, medication should be taken and fluid and electrolyte replacement should be considered to prevent dehydration.
