【Pharmacology】 Injection of a 40% Zizhu herb solution into rabbits significantly reduces bleeding time compared to the control group. It is clinically used for hemostasis, burns, and treatment of hemorrhoids. It also has inhibitory effects on Salmonella typhi, Shigella, and Staphylococcus aureus. It also has analgesic effects.

【Plant morphology】 It is a shrub or small tree with young branches covered with gray-white long hairs. The leaves are opposite, elongated oval to elliptic-lanceolate, with short soft hairs on the upper surface and dense gray-white hairs on the lower surface. There are inconspicuous golden gland dots on both sides. The umbel inflorescence branches 5-7 times, with a total flower stalk length of 2-4 cm. The calyx is 4-toothed and covered with star-shaped soft hairs. The corolla is purple, tubular, with a 4-lobed apex and slightly covered with fine hairs. There are 4 stamens and the ovary is superior with 4 chambers. The berry-like fruit is small and spherical with gland dots and turns purplish-red when ripe. It blooms in summer and grows on slopes, roadsides, and sparse forests.
