Doing a Good Job in Hydrating Your Baby

Drinking water in the morning has many benefits, and one of them is providing timely hydration to your baby! During sleep at night, the body consumes a large amount of water through urine, skin, and respiration. When you wake up, you may be in a state of dehydration. This is especially true for babies, whose metabolism is faster than adults and have a greater need for water. Drinking water in the morning can effectively replenish the water lost during metabolism. Furthermore, it can regulate the digestive system and prevent constipation. After a night of metabolism, the stomach and intestines have emptied in the morning. Drinking water at this time can dilute stomach acid and maintain a better state. It can also promote gastrointestinal peristalsis and reduce the occurrence of constipation in babies~

So how should your baby drink their first glass of water every day? Actually, a glass of plain water is enough. It is the least burdened water, which not only replenishes cell moisture, but also reduces blood viscosity and facilitates urine excretion. In addition, plain water can be absorbed by the body without digestion, allowing the blood to be quickly diluted and promoting blood circulation, making one wake up faster. The ideal temperature for water is around 25°C, as water molecules have the best affinity with human cells and the cells have the strongest ability to absorb water. Therefore, as autumn and winter approach, mothers should not forget to do a good job in hydrating their babies, keeping them moisturized and away from autumn dryness.

Dry Skin and Prickly Heat, Nourish Yin and Moisturize the Skin

As the weather becomes dry, the human skin also longs for nourishment. Although a baby's skin may seem delicate, it is actually thinner than an adult's, causing it to lose moisture more quickly. Every autumn, many children experience dry and itchy skin and unconsciously scratch it, resulting in white marks, rashes, and even skin damage, cracking, and itching. Some babies have peeling skin on their fingers, with prickly heat appearing like scales, and they often bite the prickly heat with their mouths, sometimes even causing bleeding.

To prevent dry skin in babies, you can quickly apply moisturizer after drying their body with a towel after bathing to lock in moisture and prevent rapid evaporation. Apply a little more moisturizer to areas of the skin that are often exposed. Also, pay attention to dressing your child in pure cotton underwear and avoid wearing clothes made of synthetic fibers to prevent friction between the skin and clothing, which can cause static electricity. If the fingers are peeling, apply hand cream to the child's hands and fish liver oil ointment to the peeling area. When washing hands, try to use less hand soap and other chemical products. Ingrown nails are a typical symptom of skin dehydration. Educate your child not to bite or tear off ingrown nails with their mouths. The correct method is to soak the ingrown nails in warm water, and then trim them with nail clippers. Afterwards, apply hand cream or vitamin E ointment. Of course, water-rich fruits and nourishing foods such as sand ginseng, dendrobium, and lily are also essential.

Dry and Difficult Bowel Movements, Nourish Yin and Increase Fluids

As autumn dryness approaches, it not only damages the skin and mucous membranes of the body, but also causes dryness and heat in the intestines. This leads to insufficient fluids, slow intestinal peristalsis, and difficult bowel movements, especially for children who do not drink enough water regularly. In addition, many children prefer to eat fried and greasy foods and consume large amounts of meat, while avoiding fruits and vegetables rich in dietary fiber. This is one of the main causes of constipation in babies. Some children have bowel movements every few days and experience unbearable pain each time. They may even cry, causing great distress for parents.

In general, it is not recommended for parents to use enemas for their babies. The main focus should be on nourishing yin and increasing fluids, as well as promoting bowel movements to improve the baby's constipation. In addition to increasing water intake, regularly drinking honey water and increasing the intake of vegetables, sweet potatoes, and mustard greens, parents should also encourage their baby to exercise more and strengthen their abdominal muscles to increase intestinal peristalsis. For example, parents can do baby exercises with their little ones or have older children skip rope or ride a bicycle to make them sweat slightly. In addition to helping with bowel movements, this can also improve the child's resistance to diseases and resist the invasion of autumn dryness.
