【Three Common Skin Conditions in Newborns】

1. Eczema

Characteristics of eczema: It appears repeatedly and the rash can take on various forms. It is particularly itchy.

2. Milia

3. Neonatal Acne

【Why Do Babies Get Hives?】

The cause of hives is complex, and for more than half of the cases, the exact cause cannot be determined. In general, the most common causes of hives in babies are as follows:

1. Food, including food additives. The most common allergenic foods are peanuts, nuts, milk, eggs, sesame, fish, shellfish, and beef.

2. Medications, including prescription and non-prescription drugs.

3. Insect bites, such as bee or ant stings.

4. Infection, such as viral infection.

5. Skin irritation, such as exposure to cold or heat, or sunlight.

6. Genetic factors.

【Nursing Methods】

1. Give the baby a warm bath, which may provide some relief.

2. If not bathing, it is best to clean the baby's hands regularly and try to avoid scratching.

3. If itchy, you can apply calamine lotion or cool compresses to the itchy areas.

4. If the hives are large and the baby is very uncomfortable, under the guidance of a doctor, the baby can take an appropriate dose of antihistamine medication, such as loratadine syrup, levocetirizine hydrochloride tablets, or cetirizine hydrochloride tablets.

5. During a hives outbreak, the baby may experience nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and even symptoms such as swelling, chest tightness, asphyxia, and bronchial asthma. If the child experiences these symptoms, it is best to seek medical attention as soon as possible.
