Why Do Babies Get Diarrhea

Almost every baby has experienced diarrhea more than once, especially younger babies. Therefore, it is one of the most common "four diseases of childhood" that babies are prone to. When babies have vomiting and diarrhea, mothers are anxious and eager for their babies to recover as soon as possible! As a result, they give their babies various medicines without hesitation.

However, instead of getting better, babies may have uncontrollable diarrhea that lasts for several months, which greatly affects their growth and development, and sometimes even endangers their lives. In order for babies to grow up safely and healthily, mothers should have a better understanding of the prevention, treatment, and care of baby diarrhea-

There are many reasons why a one-year-old baby has diarrhea. If it is severe diarrhea, seek medical help immediately. If it is mild diarrhea and the baby is in good spirits, with no problems in eating, sleeping, and drinking, mothers can try self-care methods to alleviate the baby's condition.

Causes of diarrhea in one-year-old babies

1. Acute gastroenteritis is the most common cause of diarrhea in babies. The most common pathogen is rotavirus.

2. Bacterial infections generally come with symptoms such as vomiting, abdominal pain, and fever, and immediate medical attention is required. Severe diarrhea (sometimes accompanied by vomiting), along with abdominal pain, blood in the stool, and fever, is often caused by viruses or bacteria (such as E. coli, Salmonella, etc.).

3. Parasitic infections can also cause baby diarrhea.

4. Medication allergies can cause baby diarrhea. If your baby has diarrhea during or after antibiotic treatment, it may be related to the medication.

5. Food, especially fruit juices, can potentially cause baby diarrhea.
