How Pregnant Women Can Take Care of Their Health in Summer

1. Keep the Room Well-Ventilated

Make sure the room is well-ventilated and avoid closing the windows. It is recommended to open the doors for ventilation regularly. Use air conditioning or fans during the hot afternoon, and the ideal room temperature should be around 26°C to 28°C. It is worth noting that when using a fan or air conditioning, direct the airflow away from yourself to prevent illness.

2. Avoid the Sun

In summer, pregnant women should stay indoors as much as possible and rest. If you need to go outside, wear a hat or use an umbrella to protect yourself from direct sunlight and prevent heatstroke.

3. Take Frequent Baths and Change Clothes

In hot weather, people sweat a lot and lose a significant amount of body fluids. Pregnant women need to keep their bodies clean. It is best to shower, rinse, or wipe the body with warm water every day. Pregnant women should change their underwear frequently to keep their bodies fresh. Choose breathable and moisture-absorbing pure cotton fabrics for underwear. Loose-fitting clothes that don't cling to the body can help keep you cool.

4. Eat Light and Healthy

Due to morning sickness, pregnant women often have a decreased appetite in summer. Therefore, it is advisable to eat cool and delicious food or have small meals frequently. Drink plenty of cool beverages. Avoid eating spoiled food to prevent diarrhea. The diet should be warm, easy to digest, nutritious, and light. Include fresh vegetables, fruits, fish, shrimp, chicken, lean meat, and soy products in the diet. It is also beneficial to consume lotus root powder, lotus seed porridge, coix seed porridge, and mint porridge. Minimize the consumption of greasy and heavy foods like fried dough sticks, pancakes, and fatty meat to prevent excessive dampness and heat.

5. Maintain a Positive Mood

In order to take care of their health in summer, pregnant women should be aware that the hot weather can easily make them feel restless and irritable. It is important to stay calm, maintain a positive and pleasant mood, and avoid getting agitated. This is beneficial for the overall well-being and health of pregnant women in summer.
