Infantile diarrhea is a syndrome of digestive dysfunction caused by pathogenic Escherichia coli and enteric viruses. It is characterized by thin and frequent stools, or watery stools. It belongs to the category of "diarrhea" in traditional Chinese medicine. Spinal compression therapy is very effective in relieving infantile diarrhea, as described below.
The child lies prone, and the doctor uses the thumbs and index fingers of both hands to press against the child's skin, starting from the tailbone and along both sides of the spine to the acupoint at the base of the neck. The fingers should not be released in the middle. This compression should be repeated 3 to 5 times, once a day.
In addition, dietary adjustments are also important for the prevention and treatment of infantile diarrhea. For mild diarrhea, breastfeeding can still be continued, but the feeding time should be shortened and the intervals between feedings should be lengthened. If formula feeding, the milk should be diluted more than usual and the layer of cream on top should be removed. For slightly older infants, easily digestible porridge should be given. For severe diarrhea, feeding should be temporarily stopped for 6 to 8 hours to allow the gastrointestinal tract to rest.
