Fragile babies always make people feel like they are fragile objects, even when touching them, they have to be extremely careful, not to mention holding them to wash their hair. However, difficult as it may be, it still needs to be done.
Senior baby care instructors suggest that before washing the baby's hair, mothers can first test the water temperature with their elbow or wrist. When it feels just right, use the left arm to hold the baby's body, while using the left hand to support the baby's head and neck, tilting the baby's head slightly downward and raising the legs slightly, with the mother and child facing each other. Then, the mother can use the thumb and index finger of the left hand to pinch the baby's ears on both sides, to prevent water from flowing into the ears. The right hand should wet the baby's head and apply an appropriate amount of shampoo, gently rubbing it in a clockwise direction. The mother can clean the baby's head while gently massaging with the fingertip of the right hand. The duration of the hair wash can be adjusted based on the baby's mood, generally after 2-5 minutes, rinse with warm water.
To avoid getting shampoo into the baby's ears or eyes when cleaning with warm water and shampoo, you can also dip a small towel in warm water and gently wipe downwards to clean off the shampoo.
After washing the hair, it is better to give the baby a head massage, which has a good auxiliary effect on stabilizing emotions, improving sleep, stimulating sensory perception, and promoting mother-child communication.
It is worth reminding that it is not advisable to wash the baby's hair right after they have eaten. It can be washed once a day or every other day, depending on the baby's emotional condition, and it is not necessary to use shampoo every time, every other time is sufficient.
