The baby is normal in all aspects, except for dry and stubborn stools. Many methods have been tried but without success, which is a common problem for babies over six months old, leaving mothers at a loss. Based on clinical practice, the following home care methods have proven to be effective.
(1) Diet: Mix peanut butter, carrot puree, celery puree, spinach puree, white radish puree, banana puree, and wholemeal bread crumbs with millet soup to make millet bread porridge. These foods do not necessarily have to be used all at once, they can be alternated. Replace orange juice with grape juice, watermelon juice, pear juice, strawberry juice, and peach juice (freshly squeezed, not canned). Drink plain water every day, according to the amount the baby can drink.
(2) Abdominal massage: With the mother's hands fully extended, cover the baby's abdomen with the navel as the center, and massage from the lower right to the upper right, upper left, and lower left, without sliding the palms on the baby's skin. Each time lasts for 5 minutes, once a day.
After the massage, let the baby sit on a potty or hold the baby over a potty for a maximum of 5 minutes, preferably two to three minutes. If the baby resists, stop immediately. Massage for bowel movements at a fixed time every day. Persistence will bring results. Unless absolutely necessary, try to avoid using laxatives or enemas.
