The Art of Baby Massage: Professional Guidance for a Healthy and Happy Bond

December 2, 2023

Baby massage is a form of medical treatment that differs from regular touch. The pressure and technique used are important, as improper methods may make the baby uncomfortable or itchy, preventing them from cooperating. Therefore, learning baby massage requires professional and systematic guidance.

Step 1: Take an appropriate amount of baby lotion or moisturizer and use both thumbs to push and press from the center of the forehead, creating a smile shape.

Step 2: Place both hands on the sides of the rib cage. Slide the right hand upward towards the baby's right shoulder, avoiding the nipple to prevent stimulation. Repeat the same process on the opposite side with the left hand.

Step 3: Massage the navel in a clockwise direction; avoid massaging the area until the umbilical scab has fallen off.

Step 4: Let the baby's hands hang down, hold one of their arms with one hand, and gently squeeze and knead from the upper arm to the wrist. Without causing any harm to the hand, use the thumb to massage from the palm to the fingers. Repeat the same process on the other hand.

Step 5: Massage the baby's thighs, knees, and calves. Gently squeeze and knead from the thighs to the ankles. Without causing any harm to the ankles, use the thumb to massage from the heel to the toes.

Step 6: Place both hands flat on the back and massage from the neck downwards.

Through physical touch, love and care are transmitted, allowing the baby to gain a sense of security and a healthy body. During the touch, parents can understand the baby's emotions and bond with them, enjoying a feeling of happiness. Such precious moments, even busy parents wouldn't want to miss, and they will definitely be willing to set aside time for themselves and their baby!
