Infant night crying is commonly seen in infants under 3 months old. According to traditional Chinese medicine, it is believed that infant night crying is caused by excessive heat in the heart meridian, or by spleen deficiency and coldness, or by fear.
Yongquan acupoint application method: Take 10 grams of Evodia rutaecarpa and 10 grams of Gardenia jasminoides, grind them into fine powder. Take an egg and separate the egg white. Mix the powdered herbs with the egg white to make two herbal cakes. Apply the herbal cakes on the Yongquan acupoint of both feet before bedtime, and fix them with adhesive tape. Remove them the next morning. This method is suitable for infant night crying caused by excessive heat in the heart meridian.
Navel patch method: Take equal amounts of cloves, cinnamon, and Evodia rutaecarpa, grind them into fine powder. Take a small amount of the powder before bedtime and mix it with warm water to make a paste. Apply the paste on the navel, and cover it with adhesive tape. Change the medicine once every night. Use this method continuously for 3-5 days. This method is suitable for infant night crying caused by spleen deficiency and coldness.
Hot fomentation method: Take equal amounts of dried ginger and fennel, grind them into coarse powder. Heat them in a pot, then wrap the hot powder in gauze. Apply the hot fomentation from the epigastric region to the lower abdomen. Pay attention to insulation and prevent burns. The hot fomentation can be reused multiple times. This method is suitable for infant night crying caused by spleen and stomach deficiency and coldness.
