Ophthalmic gold needle in "Shen Shi Yao Han"
Introduction: Ming Dynasty, Fu Renyu, 1642 Ming edition. The handle of the gold needle is made of rosewood or rhino horn, two inches and eight or nine minutes long, as thick as a bowstring, with two drilled eyes at both ends, three or four minutes deep. A good red gold is used to pull thick silk, one inch long, and dried wheat is used to mix raw lacquer into the eye of the handle.

The throat needle is a needle instrument for treating throat abscesses; the hook needle is mostly used in ophthalmology; the fine needle and the triangular needle are widely used in various clinical specialties; the cautery iron is used in surgery. It can be seen that the needle instruments in the picture are designed for various clinical specialties, not only for surgery.
