Skin needle therapy is a method of shallow needling with multiple needles, which only penetrates the skin, so it is also called "skin pricking therapy". Depending on the form of the tools and the number of needles, it can be divided into seven-star needle, plum blossom needle, and cluster needle. When using this type of needle, the pain is generally mild, making it especially suitable for children, hence the name "pediatric needle".

The skin needle is a type of needle with a small hammer-shaped head. The needle handle is generally 15-19cm long, with a lotus-shaped needle disc attached to one end, and stainless steel short needles embedded underneath. Depending on the number of needles used, it is called plum blossom needle (five needles), seven-star needle (seven needles), luohan needle (eighteen needles), etc. The origin of the skin needle dates back to ancient times. It developed based on the methods of "mao ci", "yang ci", "fu ci", and "ban ci", all of which involved shallow needling of the skin. Among them, the arrangement of the five needles in the pattern of "one in the center and four around it" already had the prototype of the plum blossom needle.

After disinfecting the needle and the tapping area with alcohol, hold the needle handle with the thumb, middle finger, and ring finger of the right hand, and fix the end of the needle handle at the distal interphalangeal joint with the ring finger and pinky. Hold the needle handle with the thumb and middle finger, and press the index finger straight onto the needle handle. Tap the needle head against the skin, using the elasticity of the wrist to make the needle tip penetrate the skin vertically and immediately bounce back. Repeat this tapping motion until the local skin becomes slightly red or there is a slight bleeding. Pay attention to maintaining a uniform tapping speed and adjust the tapping method according to the condition, such as tapping along the meridian, at specific acupoints, or on specific areas.
[Precautions]
1. Pay attention to inspect the needle. If the needle tip is bent or damaged, or the needle edge is uneven, it should be repaired promptly.
2. Disinfect the needle and the skin before tapping to prevent infection. If there is bleeding after tapping, wipe the skin clean with a disinfectant cotton ball to maintain cleanliness.
3. During the procedure, the needle tip should be tapped vertically up and down, with even force, to avoid slanting or hooking.
4. It is not advisable to use skin needle on areas with injuries or ulcers.

Rolling needle tube: It is a cylindrical metal skin needle that has the advantages of broad stimulation area, uniform stimulation intensity, and easy use.

Rolling needling: After disinfecting the special rolling needle tube with alcohol, hold the handle and roll the needle tube back and forth on the skin, making the stimulation range form a narrow and long surface or expand into a wide area.
