1. Procedure

Have the patient sit on a chair and secure their waist and limbs with restraint straps. The assistant can hold the patient's head or stabilize the limbs for needle insertion. The acupuncture points should be deeply stimulated, but not to the point of piercing the skin on the opposite side. Hold the needle handle with the right thumb and index finger, rotating it to the right for tonification and to the left for dispersion. A larger rotation angle and more repetitions indicate a stronger dispersion. Rotating to both sides or shallow insertion without rotation indicates a moderate tonification and dispersion. Regardless of the method used, the rotation should be slow, with the needle being held for 30 seconds to 1 minute after each rotation. For strong dispersion, the needle should be retained for 2-3 minutes. For mild dispersion, the needle should be retained for 3-5 minutes. For tonification, the needle should be retained for 15-20 minutes. For moderate tonification and dispersion, the needle should be retained for 20-30 minutes. When removing the needle, it is important to do so slowly.
