Yangsui Ding Moxibustion is a method of treating diseases by melting sulfur, toad venom, white arsenic and other drugs into medicine tablets, and then igniting and applying moxibustion on specific acupoints to achieve the purpose of treatment. Wu Shangxian's "Li Yue Pian Wen" in the Qing Dynasty recorded this therapy: "Yangsui Ding is used to treat wind, gas, and swelling toxins." It also detailed the preparation and moxibustion methods of the medicine tablets. Even now, some rural areas and medical institutions still use this method to treat diseases.
[Procedure]
1. Preparation of drugs:
Take 45g of sulfur, 3g of toad venom, 3g of cinnabar, 0.6g of borneol, 0.6g of musk, and 1.5g of white arsenic, and grind them into fine powder. Then take a copper spoon and place it on a stove. Use a low heat to melt the sulfur first, then add the toad venom, cinnabar, borneol, and musk in order, and stir well with a glass rod or bamboo chopsticks. Finally, add the white arsenic (when adding white arsenic, there will be a puff of blue smoke, be careful to avoid this smoke entering the eyes and nose), and immediately move the copper spoon away from the stove, stir it slightly, and pour it into a flat ceramic plate while hot, spread it out and let it cool, then take it out and store it in a bottle.
2. Usage:
According to the location of the lesion, the degree of pain or coldness, and other specific conditions, take half to one medicine tablet (about the size of a melon seed). Slightly heat one end of the tablet with fire to make it soft, stick it onto a piece of paper, and then place the paper on the acupoint that has been applied with a small amount of Vaseline. Ignite the tablet with fire. When the burning is about to end, extinguish the fire with a matchbox or bottle cap. At this time, the patient will feel a deep heat penetrating about 0.3cm. Generally, after one strong moxibustion, the acupoint will only show a mild pale redness. If the medicine tablet is larger or if multiple strong moxibustions are applied, blisters may appear the next day, which can be punctured with a needle and then continue with moxibustion after applying gentian violet.
[Indications]
Scrofula, venomous insect bites, early stage of ulcers, and other diseases. Apply moxibustion to the affected area.
[Precautions]
Same as "Scarless Moxibustion Therapy".
