Gap walnut shell glasses moxibustion is a moxibustion method that uses walnut shell as a spacer. Walnut is a kidney tonic, chrysanthemum has the effect of clearing the head and improving vision, and moxibustion with wormwood separated by a spacer can achieve the effects of nourishing the kidney and liver and clearing the head and improving vision. Therefore, this method is suitable for certain eye diseases. It is based on the use of walnut shell moxibustion to treat surgical ulcers in the book "Yi Yi Da Quan" by Gu Shicheng in the Qing Dynasty, and has been modified through clinical practice.
Gap walnut shell glasses moxibustion
Clinical operating method:
(1) Prepare a pair of walnut shell glasses frames.
(2) Prepare the walnut shell soaking solution. Take 10 grams of chrysanthemum, 10 grams of cicada slough, 10 grams of peppermint, and 10 grams of dendrobium. Wrap them in gauze and put them in a large glass bottle. Pour in 250ml of warm water and soak for 15 minutes. Then put the walnut shell into the liquid, press it with the medicine pack, and soak for another 15 minutes.
(3) Take out the walnut shell and put it on the frame on the affected side, with the concave side facing the eye. Ignite a 3cm long pure moxa stick at one node, insert it on the hook of the frame, and then wear the frame on the patient's eye for moxibustion. Moxibustion should be limited to 1-3 sticks per session, depending on the patient's tolerance and condition. Moxibustion should be performed 1-2 times a day, with 10 sessions as one course of treatment, with an interval of 3-5 days before moxibustion again.
(4) If both eyes are affected, moxibustion should be performed on both sides; if only one eye is affected, moxibustion should be performed on one side. When performing moxibustion, the eyes should be closed to allow the steam inside the shell to reach the affected area. Patients will feel a moist and warm sensation in the entire eye area. This method is suitable for eye diseases such as senile cataracts, glaucoma, acute and chronic conjunctivitis, myopia, strabismus, central retinitis, optic atrophy, and eye muscle paralysis.
Precautions:During the moxibustion period, avoid eating spicy food and avoid watching TV to avoid affecting the treatment effect.
