Moxibustion is a method of using special moxa sticks to fumigate or iron the acupoints.
1. Mild Moxibustion
Light one end of the moxa stick and aim it at the acupoint or affected area. Keep a distance of about 2~3cm from the skin and fumigate it gently, so that the patient feels warmth without burning pain. Generally, moxibustion is performed for 10~15 minutes on each acupoint until the skin becomes slightly reddened.
2. Pecking Moxibustion
Place the lit moxa stick about 3cm above the acupoint. Move the moxa stick up and down in a pecking motion, like a bird pecking for food. Generally, moxibustion is performed for 5 minutes on each acupoint.
3. Revolving Moxibustion
Light the moxa stick and hold it about 3cm above the moxibustion area.
