Concept
Acupoint laser irradiation is a method of using a special laser irradiation device to emit laser beams onto acupoints for the treatment of diseases, commonly known as "laser therapy" or "light acupuncture".
Procedure
(1) Before treatment, thoroughly check for any leakage, ensure that the grounding is properly connected to prevent electric shock or damage to the machine.
(2) Before irradiation, adjust the current knob to the 2nd or 3rd gear, then turn on the power switch. When the indicator light is on, the helium-neon laser emits a red beam of light.
(3) During treatment, choose the appropriate body position, expose the local skin, adjust the current to stabilize the laser tube, and then directly and vertically irradiate the acupoint with the laser beam. The distance between the light source and the skin should be 8-100cm.
(4) Pay attention to properly adjust the current intensity during treatment. After treatment, turn off the power.
(5) Treatment should start with a small dose, with an initial treatment time of 1 minute, gradually increasing to 5-10 minutes. Once a day or every other day, 5-10 sessions make up one course of treatment, and the same area should not exceed 15 sessions.
Indications
(1) Internal Medicine: bronchitis, asthma, pneumonia, allergic rhinitis, hypertension, chronic hepatitis, chronic enteritis, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, etc.
(2) Surgery: sequelae of cerebral concussion, traumatic paralysis, tennis elbow, shoulder periarthritis, acute and chronic sprains, mastitis, etc.
(3) Neurology: stroke paralysis, cerebral palsy in children, trigeminal neuralgia, facial paralysis, peripheral nerve damage, etc.
(4) Dermatology: vitiligo, neurodermatitis, urticaria, acne, erysipelas, etc.
(5) Gynecology: dysmenorrhea, pelvic inflammatory disease, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, vulvar pruritus, etc.
(6) Pediatrics: enuresis in children, etc.
(7) Oncology: adjuvant therapy for various tumors, side effects of tumor radiotherapy and chemotherapy, etc.
Precautions
(1) After aligning the light source with the acupoint, instruct the patient not to move to ensure the accuracy of the irradiation site and the treatment effect.
(2) The dosage of the laser must be well controlled. If the dosage is too small, it will not have a therapeutic effect. If the dosage is too large, it may cause dizziness, nausea, fatigue, drowsiness, insomnia, palpitations, as well as mild bloating, diarrhea, menstrual disorders, and other side effects. If side effects occur, adjust the irradiation distance, or shorten the irradiation time and frequency, or stop the treatment.
(3) Avoid direct viewing of the laser beam. Personnel and patients receiving facial irradiation should wear helium-neon laser protective goggles.
