Harmony: The Path to Health and Longevity

The way to health and longevity is diverse, but harmony is paramount.

70% of modern diseases are psychosomatic, such as coronary heart disease, hypertension, cerebrovascular accidents, and cancer, all of which are closely related to psychological emotions (joy, anger, worry, thought, sadness, fear, surprise) and the environment. Due to the fast pace of modern life, the "seven emotions and six desires" repeatedly stimulate, causing an imbalance in the psychological state, resulting in blockage of meridians, blood stasis, and yin-yang imbalance, leading to diseases. It is said that all diseases arise from the qi. Anger leads to qi rising, joy leads to qi calming, sadness leads to qi flowing, fear leads to qi stagnation, surprise leads to qi disorder, exertion leads to qi consumption, thought leads to qi stagnation, and harmony leads to smooth qi circulation.

Joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness are part of human emotions, and worries and sorrows are constant companions in life. Life is full of ups and downs and challenges. To deal with life correctly and improve one's inner quality, one should constantly cultivate oneself and maintain inner peace, adapt to the social environment, and seek harmony within oneself, with nature, and with society.

How can we achieve the state of harmony? Always think in a positive and broad-minded manner. In Buddhism, there is the smiling Maitreya Buddha, known as "the one with a big belly can accommodate all things in the world; with a compassionate face, he laughs at the ridiculous people in the world." Zheng Banqiao said it well: "It's hard to be confused" and "losing is gaining." We should have less selfishness, less calculation, and less jealousy, and have more love, understanding, and tolerance. Harmony brings peace to individuals and families.

As the ancients said, "Spring has hundreds of flowers, autumn has the moon, summer has cool breezes, and winter has snow. If you don't worry about trivial matters, it is a good time in the world." By loving life and nature, we can feel that life is beautiful and nature is friendly. Mountains, rivers, flowers, and trees are all our friends. This is harmony with nature and the universe.

Only by maintaining a calm and peaceful mind can one achieve the balance of body and mind and prolong life. Therefore, cultivating harmony contributes to longevity.
