Elderly people should avoid certain types of exercise, as some activities can be harmful to their health as they age. People over 60 years old are advised to avoid the following three exercises.

Exercises Unsuitable for Elderly People

1. Squatting

When squatting, the low center of gravity puts excessive stress on the knee joints, leading to joint pain and accelerated wear and tear of the cartilage. Additionally, vigorous squatting for extended periods can cause instability in blood pressure for elderly individuals.

2. Mountain Climbing

Mountain climbing is not conducive to protecting the knee joints of elderly people. When climbing up, the weight of the body primarily burdens the knee joints. However, when descending, the knees endure not only the bodyweight but also the force of the body moving downward, which increases the risk of knee joint damage.

3. Walking After Meals

While many elderly people consider the saying "a hundred steps after meals lead to a long life" as a fitness motto, it is not suitable for everyone. From a modern medical perspective, the heart of elderly people experiences increased workload after eating, especially after a full meal. Engaging in physical activity immediately after a meal has a negative impact on the cardiovascular system. Therefore, elderly individuals should avoid exercise within two hours after a full meal.

Frozen shoulder, also known as adhesive capsulitis, is a condition characterized by reduced range of motion in the shoulder joint. The shoulder feels stiff and restricted in movement, hence the term "frozen shoulder." It primarily affects individuals in their 40s to 60s.
