How to Incorporate Fresh Lilies into Your Cooking

Fresh lilies contain rich nutrients such as vitamins and amino acids, and have the effects of lubricating the intestines, invigorating the spleen and lungs, and nourishing the heart and calming the mind. So how should we eat fresh lilies?

Lily and Sweet Potato Congee

Ingredients:

100g sweet potato, 150g rice, 30g fresh lilies.

Instructions:

1. Peel and cut the sweet potato into small pieces, break the lilies into petals and wash them;

2. Wash the rice and put it in a clay pot with the sweet potato;

3. Pour in water, simmer over low heat for 50 minutes;

4. Add the lilies after the congee thickens, and cook for another 5 minutes.

Lily and Lotus Seed Chicken Stew

Ingredients:

10g lilies, 20 lotus seeds, 15g goji berries, 500g free-range chicken.

Instructions:

1. Wash the lotus seeds and soak them in water for 2 hours;

2. Wash the lilies and goji berries, soak them in cold water for about 10 minutes;

3. Cut the chicken into pieces, slice the ginger, then stir-fry the chicken and ginger in a pot for three minutes;

4. Put the lilies, lotus seeds, and chicken into a clay pot, simmer over medium heat for 30 minutes, then cook over low heat for another 10 minutes.

Lily, Tremella, and Red Date Soup

Ingredients:

10g lilies, 2 tremella mushrooms, a suitable amount of red dates.

Instructions:

1. Soak the tremella mushrooms in cold water until soft, wash and tear them into small pieces; peel and wash the fresh lilies; wash the red dates and remove the pits.

2. Fill a pot with water, add the ingredients, simmer over low heat for about 1 hour, or pressure cook for about 10 minutes, until the soup thickens.

3. You can add rock sugar or white sugar while cooking, or add honey before consumption.

Lily and Pear Stew

Ingredients:

20g lilies, 50g snow pear, 20g tremella mushrooms, 3g goji berries, a suitable amount of rock sugar.

Instructions:

1. Wash the lilies and soak them overnight, do not discard the soaking water.

2. Peel and cut the snow pear into chunks, put the soaked lilies into a pot and cook until sticky, simmer over low heat for about 1.5 hours.

3. Add the pear chunks, tremella mushrooms, rock sugar, and cook for about half an hour, finally add goji berries and tremella mushrooms, and cook for another 5 minutes.

Beef Stir-Fried with Lily

Ingredients:

200g fresh lilies, 300g beef, green bell pepper, red bell pepper, scallions.

Instructions:

1. Break and wash the lilies, cut the green and red bell peppers into small pieces; mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sugar.

2. Cut the beef into slices, marinate with soy sauce, vegetable oil, and cornstarch.

3. Heat a little oil in a frying pan, stir-fry scallions, garlic slices, and beef slices until the beef changes color.

4. Finally, pour in the mixed seasoning, sprinkle some rice wine before removing from the heat.
