Early Warning Signals of Cancer: Pay Attention to Bleeding, Mass, and Pain

March 8, 2024

Early detection and treatment are the best for any illness, including cancer. However, many people are busy with work every day and often ignore physical discomfort symptoms, ultimately missing the best time for treatment. Pay attention to these signals when your body exhibits them.

  One: Bleeding

  1. Coughing up blood or having blood in phlegm

Coughing up blood, excluding temporary bleeding caused by dryness or overwork, may be a manifestation of lung cancer.

  2. Unexplained nosebleeds

Experts explain that if nosebleeds occur without trauma, external force, dry weather, or high blood pressure, it may be nasopharyngeal cancer or blood diseases.

  3. Blood in urine

The appearance of blood in urine, especially painless hematuria, may be bladder cancer or kidney cancer.

  4. Blood in stool

If accompanied by changes in bowel habits and tenesmus (abdominal pain, frequent urge to defecate, heavy feeling in the rectum, unsatisfactory bowel movement), it may be an early manifestation of colorectal cancer.

  5. Bleeding from the nipple

Bloody discharge from the female nipple may be breast cancer or breast duct tumor.

  Two: Pain

Long-term and worsening pain may be an early signal of cancer.

  1. Progressive worsening headache accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and blurred vision may be a manifestation of brain tumor or brain metastasis caused by lung cancer.

  2. Neck pain, compression sensation, tightness, facial swelling may be caused by tumor compression of the superior vena cava, leading to obstructed blood flow.

  3. Burning sensation behind the sternum, difficulty swallowing, and pain may be manifestations of esophageal cancer, cardia cancer, or stomach cancer.

  Three: Mass

  1. The appearance of a long-lasting or rapidly enlarging mass in a superficial part of the body. Cancerous tumors are often irregular masses with itching, ulceration, and exudation.

  2. Asymmetrical and irregular masses in the breasts, with orange peel-like changes, may be breast cancer. For thyroid nodules, if you suddenly cannot produce sound or your voice suddenly becomes hoarse, in addition to checking the thyroid, it is also necessary to see a specialist in oncology to avoid misdiagnosis of thyroid cancer or laryngeal cancer.

Therefore, experts have summarized the early warning signals of cancer into a "Five-word Rule for Cancer Signals": Bleeding, Mass, Pain, Burning, and Decrease. If you or your family members exhibit these signals, be sure to go to the hospital for examination.
