Scientific Placement of Plants: Creating an Oxygen Oasis in Your Home

February 16, 2024

Keeping some plants at home not only adds beauty to the environment but also creates a "natural oxygen bar" for the living space. However, the placement of plants in the room should also be scientific in order to benefit our health. Experts suggest dividing the living space into 7 areas and scientifically placing plants accordingly.

(1) Pathways

It is best to hang some vine plants that can be grown in water, such as the spider plant, green elf, and English ivy. These plants are easy to shape and pathways are generally well-ventilated, which provides them with the best growing environment.

(2) Bathroom

Sansevierias can absorb water vapor from the air, making them ideal choices for bathrooms. English ivy can purify the air and kill bacteria, and it is a shade-tolerant plant, so it can also be placed in the restroom. Ferns and pepper plants prefer humidity, so they can be placed near the bathtub.

(3) Entranceway and Windows

Water-grown plants or tall plants, such as water-grown lucky bamboo, spider plant, money tree, or tall iron tree and money tree, are suitable for these areas. Because these areas usually have wind and good air circulation, having some tall or water-grown plants can help maintain the humidity and temperature balance of the room.

(4) Living Room

Plants like English ivy, fig trees, pitcher plants, and aloe vera are suitable for the living room. The living room is a place where people come and go, and these plants can not only deal with bacteria and insects brought in from outside but also absorb dust that even vacuum cleaners have difficulty catching.

(5) Dressing Table and Desk

The leaves of the Aglaonema change color with temperature changes, from green to white, pink, and peach, and then back to green. Placing it next to the owner's desk can provide a calming effect. In addition, ornamental plants such as water fir and orchids are also suitable for these areas.

(6) Bedroom

Placing plants that can absorb carbon dioxide and other waste gases, such as potted citrus trees, rosemary, spider plants, and zebra leaves, in the bedroom is suitable. Their scents are not strong enough to cause dizziness. Plants with large leaves and a preference for water, like the spider plant, can also be kept in the bedroom to maintain optimal humidity.

(7) Kitchen

Spider plants and the spider plant have strong air purifying and mosquito-repellent effects, making them the ideal choice for the kitchen. They can also be placed on top of the refrigerator.
