Unleashing the Hidden Potential: Surprising Uses for Eggshells

February 15, 2024

The nutritional value of eggs is very rich, and many people love to eat them. There are many ways to eat eggs, but have you ever noticed the eggshell? This commonly discarded item actually has many uses.

1. Relieve joint pain

The eggshell contains nutrients that can promote joint health, such as collagen, chondroitin sulfate, glucosamine, and hyaluronic acid.

If you happen to have eggshells at home, you can try the following method: crush the eggshells and put them in a glass jar, then pour in some apple cider vinegar and seal the jar. After about two days, the eggshells will gradually dissolve, and the nutrients inside the shells will be released.

2. Give you baby-like skin

You don't necessarily have to buy a face mask from a store. Occasionally, you can DIY an eggshell mask at home.

Crack open an egg and separate the egg white. Crush the eggshell and mix it with the egg white. After cleaning your face, apply the mixture onto your face. Once it dries, rinse it off with warm water.

The crushed eggshell can remove dead skin cells and rejuvenate the skin. In addition, the calcium in the eggshell can promote cell regeneration and help even out skin tone.

3. Remove stains from dishcloth

Put the dishcloth in a pot filled with water (can be a used one). Add raw eggshells and bring it to a boil over high heat. Let it simmer on medium heat for 6 minutes. Remove the dishcloth and rinse it with cold water. Let it air dry.

When an eggshell is cracked open, the inner wall of the shell is coated with egg white, which contains enzymes. Therefore, it can quickly break down the oil stains on the dishcloth and provide better cleaning results than regular detergent, allowing the dishcloth to quickly become clean again.

So, don't just focus on what we already know, but also be good at discovering what we don't know. You never know, something you might disregard could have a great use.
