Quick Tips to Cool Down Your Car in Summer

February 13, 2024

After the car is parked in the sun for a while in summer, the temperature inside the car can reach as high as sixty to seventy degrees Celsius, and the car interior will become like a large oven. Many drivers may experience symptoms such as dizziness, drowsiness, and coughing due to the high temperature inside the car. 96% of drivers say that driving in summer is the most troublesome. Therefore, it is necessary to maintain and cool the car in high temperatures. Here, the editor will provide a few tips for quickly cooling down the car.

Tip 1: Open and close car doors repeatedly

After getting into the car, start the vehicle and then open the windows. Instead of turning on the air conditioning immediately, roll down the driver's side window and repeatedly open and close the passenger side door 10 times. Within 2 minutes, the temperature inside the car will drop by nearly 10 degrees Celsius. Then you can start driving.

Due to air convection cooling, the temperature inside the car quickly drops to the same as the outside temperature, which takes about a minute or two. After driving for a while, close the windows and turn on the air conditioning. Set the air conditioning to circulate internally. Since cold air sinks, it is best for the air conditioning to blow upwards when cooling.

Principle: The principle is similar to air conditioning. Because hot air floats on cold air, repeatedly opening and closing the doors brings a large amount of cold air into the car, enhances the circulation of air inside and outside the car, and quickly removes hot air, resulting in a rapid temperature drop.

Friendly reminder: Opening the driver's side door only requires rolling down the passenger side window, which is better than fully opening the door and can prevent the door hinges from rusting. Turning on the air conditioning immediately after getting into the car can damage the engine. Relying solely on the air conditioning for strong cooling will cause excessive heat load on the air conditioning system and waste a lot of fuel.

Tip 2: Spray water or alcohol to cool down

Prepare a spray bottle and fill it with three-quarters of water. Add about 20 milliliters of alcohol. After opening the car door, quickly spray a few times and then close the door without opening the windows. After a minute or two, the temperature inside the car will drop, making it much more comfortable to enter the cabin.

If you have purchased a car cooling agent, you can also spray it inside the car, on the seats, and on the surface of the steering wheel before driving. Just a gentle spray can instantly reduce the temperature inside the car by about 40 degrees Celsius, with astonishing cooling speed!

Principle: Both alcohol and water absorb heat. Car owners can prepare a small spray bottle or an empty hairspray bottle in the car, and mix alcohol and water in a ratio of 1:10. The same principle applies to car cooling agents.

Friendly reminder: The alcohol smell will dissipate within a few minutes. The ignition point of 100% pure alcohol is 75 degrees Celsius, and the lower the concentration, the higher the ignition point. A concentration of 75% medicinal alcohol diluted with water in a ratio of 1:10 will generally not catch fire under normal conditions.

Tip 3: Air conditioning cooling

Start the engine, open all four windows, switch the air conditioning circulation mode to external circulation, set the air vents to face mode, and then turn the air conditioning fan to the maximum speed. After a minute or two, close the windows, turn on the A/C switch, set the temperature to the lowest, and switch the air conditioning circulation mode to internal circulation until the temperature drops. Then adjust the temperature and fan speed to the appropriate level.

With these 3 tricks from the editor, isn't it much more comfortable to drive in the summer?
