Foods to Avoid and Food Therapy for Tooth Pain

February 10, 2024

Teeth are very important for people. Improper diet and improper dental care can cause tooth damage and pain. There are certain foods that should not be eaten when experiencing tooth pain, as they can worsen the pain. Do you know which foods to avoid?

Foods to Avoid When Experiencing Tooth Pain

1. Sweet and sugary foods

Sweet and sugary foods are usually high in sucrose, which can directly stimulate dental cavities. They can also hinder the absorption of nutrients in the stomach, making the situation of tooth decay worse. Severe tooth decay can easily lead to increased tooth pain, so it is important to avoid sweet and sugary foods when experiencing tooth pain.

2. Acidic foods

If a food is acidic, it should not be consumed directly. Acidic foods can produce more lactic acid in our mouths, which can damage dental cavities and further worsen the demineralization of teeth. Therefore, acidic foods can be very detrimental to teeth, and as tooth damage becomes more severe, the likelihood of experiencing tooth pain increases.

3. Hard and rough foods

This category of foods includes fried cashews, fried peanuts, bamboo shoots, and fried pork chops, among others. When eating these foods, we need to chew forcefully, which can cause these foods to get stuck in dental cavities and further enlarge the cavities. This can make the teeth more and more painful, exacerbating the situation of tooth pain. Therefore, people experiencing tooth pain should avoid consuming hard and rough foods.
