Summer's arrival heralds the use of air conditioning, which has now become the preferred "equipment" for people to combat hot and humid weather. Whether at home or in the office, people like to have the air conditioning on. However, it is important to be aware of the "air conditioning syndrome" that quietly lurks while enjoying the comfort brought by the air conditioning.
The so-called "air conditioning syndrome" is mainly characterized by dizziness, headaches, nasal congestion, dry throat, lack of concentration, palpitations, high blood pressure, and colds. During the use of air conditioning, the indoor air passes through the air conditioning system's ducts and filters, which greatly reduces the concentration of negative ions. Inhaling this type of air in large quantities can disrupt the body's normal physiological balance, leading to the occurrence of "air conditioning syndrome". Moreover, although staying in an air-conditioned room for a long time may be comfortable, it is more prone to heat stroke when leaving the air-conditioned environment.
Experts remind us to pay attention to the following points when using air conditioning in a healthy and reasonable manner.
(1) Ventilate regularly: To prevent "air conditioning syndrome", it is important to open windows for ventilation regularly. It is best to turn off the air conditioning 1-2 hours after it is turned on, and then open the windows to regulate the indoor temperature with natural airflow.
(2) Avoid setting the temperature too low: The air conditioning temperature should not be set too low to avoid a large temperature difference with the outdoor environment, which can make people more susceptible to catching a cold. The indoor temperature should ideally be set at 25-27°C, and the temperature difference between indoor and outdoor should not exceed 7°C.
(3) Avoid direct airflow: Do not direct the air conditioning vents towards the body, and especially avoid sitting directly under the air conditioning when feeling hot. Direct airflow can cause strong contraction of the skin pores, preventing normal sweating and leading to hormonal imbalance, resulting in "air conditioning syndrome".
(4) Clean the filters regularly: The filters on the air conditioning unit should be cleaned and disinfected regularly to prevent the proliferation of pathogenic microorganisms that can harm the body. It is recommended to clean them every two weeks.
