Sleeping Well: The Key to Health and Vitality

February 3, 2024

"Health comes from sleep," this is a new idea proposed by medical researchers recently. As early as in the "Book of Han • Jia Yi's Biography", it was recorded: "Habits become natural." Once we get used to our own ways of doing things, it becomes difficult to change and becomes natural. This applies to daily life as well as sleep.

Research has shown that adequate sleep not only eliminates fatigue, but also enhances the body's immune system and promotes the circulation of cortisol, making people energized. The most sufficient and healthy sleep is being able to sleep until waking up naturally. So, how can we ensure that we can sleep until waking up naturally without affecting our daily work and life?

First, life should be regular. Sleep is a physiological need that reserves energy for the activities of the next day. Most people spend more than 1/3 of their lives sleeping. A regular life helps stabilize the "biological clock". Therefore, no matter what, we should adhere to sleeping on time at night and waking up on time in the morning, even on weekends. In addition, afternoon naps should not be too long and should not be used as a substitute for normal night sleep, as it can disrupt the "biological clock" and affect sleep at night. Work and study should also be regular, avoiding staying up late to prevent physical and mental fatigue.

Second, maintain a good mood before sleeping. Only a relaxed, calm, and peaceful mood helps to achieve high-quality sleep. Before sleeping, it is helpful to do things that relax yourself, such as taking a walk, taking a bath, reading a novel, or listening to soft music. Avoid intense physical exercise, stimulating TV shows or movies, and do not dwell on the stress and worries of the day. You can try replacing the monotonous alarm clock with elegant or uplifting music, as it can promote the flow of oxygen and blood in the brain, helping to stay awake.

Warm Tips

Taking honey before sleeping is beneficial for sleep. Research has shown that patients with neurasthenia can improve their sleep by taking a tablespoon of honey orally before bedtime. Honey contains a large amount of monosaccharides and vitamins, and it also has a good protective effect on the liver.
