5 Sleep Habits to Avoid for Better Health

February 3, 2024

Sleep is the most systematic and effective method of rest for humans, and it is also an important means of scientific health preservation. However, if you neglect these details during sleep, it can be harmful to your health.

1. Remove Your Dentures

Some people, especially the elderly, have no teeth and rely on dentures. However, if you fall asleep with dentures on, there is a possibility of swallowing them, which can be life-threatening. Therefore, people who wear dentures must remove them and clean them before going to sleep to maintain oral hygiene and ensure safe sleep.

2. Stay Away from Mobile Devices

Stay away from electronic devices such as mobile phones. These devices emit electromagnetic waves of different wavelengths and frequencies, creating an electronic fog that disrupts the nervous system and physiological functions of the body. Using your phone or playing with it in bed and keeping it next to your pillow while sleeping is extremely detrimental to your health.

3. Remove Makeup

Many women are lazy to remove their makeup before going to bed. However, sleeping with makeup on can clog your skin pores, disrupt sweat secretion, hinder cellular respiration, and even lead to acne and damage your appearance. Therefore, it is important to remove makeup and wash your face before bedtime to eliminate the irritation caused by residual makeup and allow the skin to breathe fully.

4. Dry Your Hair Before Sleeping

If you have a habit of washing your hair before bed, it is important to thoroughly dry your hair. If a large amount of moisture remains on the scalp surface, especially when the night temperature is low, sleeping directly with wet hair is more prone to illness. You may experience numbness and dull pain in the scalp during the night. The next morning, you may even experience unexplained headaches or dizziness, and in severe cases, nausea may occur.

5. Stay Away from Stuffed Toys

Many girls like to place stuffed toys on their beds, which creates a comfortable sleeping environment. However, the surface of stuffed toys carries a lot of static electricity, which can attract invisible and untouchable dust, dust mites, and even chemicals such as formaldehyde. It is best not to place stuffed toys in the bedroom, and definitely not to sleep with them.
