January 31, 2024

Loquat Paste is something related to loquat, especially suitable for consumption in summer. Do you know the benefits of loquat paste? Today, I will teach you how to make loquat paste at home. The specific steps are as follows:

How to Make Loquat Paste at Home

1. Firstly, wash the loquat leaves and let them air dry naturally. Then, add them to a container along with some lotus seeds and other desired ingredients. Mix well and put them in a covered container. It is recommended to use a clay pot, but avoid using an iron pot. Add an appropriate amount of cold water and soak for about two hours. Start boiling over high heat for one hour, extract the liquid once, add more water, and boil again. Combine the two batches of liquid and let it settle for six hours in a container. Filter it three times using four layers of gauze to remove impurities.

2. Put it on low heat and simmer slowly. When it evaporates, it will become thick and sticky. Add some gelatinous yellow wine or rock sugar to the concentrated liquid and stir constantly. Then add any other desired ingredients. Pour the mixture into previously cleaned and sterilized containers while it is still hot. Work quickly to prevent the paste from sticking together. Let it cool before consuming.

Benefits of Loquat Paste

There are several benefits of consuming loquat paste, especially in hot summer. Soaking loquat leaves in white wine for half a month and drinking it can increase appetite, eliminate fatigue, stop coughing, and prevent allergies. It can also be helpful for elderly people who have a tendency to cough or have lung problems. Additionally, enjoying a bowl of sugar stewed loquats refrigerated in the refrigerator is a delicious treat. Although loquats are suitable for people with different constitutions, it is best for those with cold stomachs, coughs caused by blood cold, and cold-type colds to avoid consuming too much loquat paste.

Reminder: The leaves used to make loquat paste should be older. The leaves themselves are not toxic. However, if the leaves are fresh and vibrant or if the loquat fruits and seeds are used, they may contain trace amounts of cyanide, which can be toxic. Do not consume them randomly. If children are curious or accidentally swallow loquat seeds, vomiting and breathing difficulties may occur. Therefore, caution must be exercised when using loquats.
