Summer Vacation Eye Care: Simple Methods to Improve Vision for Children

Opthalmologists have found that the long summer vacation becomes a "watershed" for the visual development of many children. Some children use the holiday to balance work and rest, pay attention to eye health, and combine traditional Chinese medicine treatment to relax their eyes and even improve their vision. However, more children, despite the absence of academic stress, start to play online games, watch DVDs, and watch TV excessively during the vacation, resulting in a significant decline in their vision.      Nourish the eyes

 

     Pay attention to a balanced diet, with a combination of coarse and fine grains and a combination of meat and vegetables. Ensure the intake of trace elements and vitamins, eat more fresh vegetables, fruits, and seafood, and consume less candy and sweets.

 

     Bathe the eyes

Alternatively, you can brew traditional Chinese medicine such as chrysanthemum or bamboo leaves into a decoction and use the warm liquid to steam the eyes.     Strengthen the eyes

 

     In the morning, stand in a place with fresh air and keep a natural standing posture. First, focus your eyes on a distant target, then slowly bring your gaze back until it is 35 centimeters away from your eyes, and then shift your gaze back to the original target. Repeat this several times, and then do deep breathing exercises. This method has certain benefits for regulating eye function.

 

     Massage the eyes

 

     Every morning or before bed, sit or stand with your eyes closed. Rub your palms together rapidly until they feel warm, and then quickly cover your eyes with your palms. At this time, you will feel a warm stream. Repeat this several times to promote blood circulation in the eyes.

 

     Exercise the eyes

 

     Stand in front of a window and sequentially look at the four corners of the window in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction. This can relax the tendons, exercise the eye muscles, and improve vision. Do this exercise for 5 to 10 minutes each morning and evening.
