January 26, 2024

Many diseases show specific symptoms in the morning. If the elderly can understand these symptoms, they can detect some diseases early and receive appropriate treatment.

Dizziness

If the mind feels heavy and dizzy in the morning, or if there are symptoms of dizziness, it indicates that the patient may have cervical spondylosis or increased blood viscosity.

Early awakening

Some elderly people wake up from their sleep as early as 4-5 o'clock in the morning. After waking up, they feel tired and weak, and their mood is not relaxed but rather depressed. Clinical observations have shown that early awakening and insomnia are mainly seen in patients with various types of depression and mental disorders, especially in patients with depression.

Swelling

If an elderly person wakes up in the morning and has obvious swelling in the head and face, especially in the eyelids, it indicates that the patient may have kidney disease or heart disease.

Morning stiffness

Morning stiffness refers to the feeling of stiffness and limited movement in joints and muscles after waking up in the morning. The joints and muscles gradually stretch and extend after movement. Generally speaking, if an elderly person has obvious morning stiffness and the joints of the whole body are not flexible, it indicates that they may have diseases such as rheumatism, osteoarthritis, etc. Some patients with allergic diseases such as erythema multiforme, dermatomyositis, scleroderma, etc., may also experience obvious morning stiffness.

Feeling hungry

Some elderly people wake up at around 4-5 o'clock in the early morning and feel unbearable hunger. They feel anxious and uncomfortable, and they also feel tired and weak. If they eat some food, the symptoms can be relieved to some extent. However, they may still have dry mouth and the desire to drink water. These symptoms gradually disappear after having breakfast. This suggests that the patient may have diabetes. If the patient already knows that they have diabetes and experiences the above symptoms in the early morning, it indicates that their medication method and dosage are not appropriate.
