Differences between Quail Eggs and Chicken Eggs
Which one is more nutritious, quail eggs or chicken eggs? Quail eggs are often more expensive than chicken eggs in the market, sometimes even double the price per pound. However, many people prefer quail eggs, believing that they are more nutritious than chicken eggs. So, what is the nutritional value of quail eggs?
【Which is more nutritious, quail eggs or chicken eggs?】
In fact, the nutritional components of quail eggs and chicken eggs, such as protein, fat, and carbohydrates, are similar in the same weight. The differences between quail eggs and chicken eggs mainly lie in four aspects:
1. The vitamin A content in chicken eggs is more than four times that of quail eggs.
2. Quail eggs have higher levels of B vitamins compared to chicken eggs, especially vitamin B2, which is twice as much as that in chicken eggs. Vitamin B2 is an auxiliary enzyme in biochemical activities, which can promote body growth and development.
3. Quail eggs contain more cholesterol than chicken eggs.
4. Quail eggs have higher levels of phospholipids compared to chicken eggs.
Although the nutritional values of quail eggs and chicken eggs are similar, they each have their own strengths. Therefore, the choice between chicken eggs and quail eggs should be based on individual needs. For example, it is recommended to choose quail eggs for infants and young children because the phospholipid content in quail eggs of the same weight is higher than that in chicken eggs, and phospholipids contribute to brain development in children. Children under the age of 6 can consume 3-4 quail eggs per day. Infants should eat boiled eggs, only consuming the yolk mixed with boiled water, which aids digestion and absorption.
For school-age children who have heavy study loads and more eye usage, chicken eggs are a good choice. Consuming about 2 eggs per day is optimal as chicken eggs have high levels of vitamin A, which is beneficial for visual development and protection. However, it is not advisable for elderly people to eat quail eggs due to their higher cholesterol content. It is recommended for them to eat chicken eggs instead. For elderly people with liver and gallbladder diseases, they should consume fewer or no egg yolks depending on their physical condition.
Therefore, the nutritional value of quail eggs and chicken eggs is not significantly different. Both are considered high-quality proteins that are easily digested and absorbed by the body. However, quail eggs are more expensive than chicken eggs, so it is more economical and convenient to include chicken eggs in your daily diet.
